If this poem is from Carlie Chaplin (or from an unknown book about him), why does it need 44 years (1959-2003) to come in public? Or.. show me for this poem only one allocation to Chaplin before 2003.

- Quote -

alison mcmillen, August 10, 2010 at 5:23 pm

Hi –

My name is Alison McMillen. My mom, Kim McMillen wrote a book called ‘When I Loved Myself Enough”. The text above is very very very very similar to her book, although it looks like much has been modified in translation. I have seen reference to a poem by Charlie Chaplin and have no idea where the link has come from but I feel very certain that the above poem is a translated version of my mom’s work.

Let me know if you have any questions about her book.

Thanks

Alison McMillen

- Quote end -

Source: https://simontzu.wordpress.com/2009/04/30/when-i-started-loving-myself-charlie-chaplin/

- Quote -

Wikipedia states that this is a re-translantion (from Portuguese-BR) of text from the book When I Loved Myself Enough by Kim & Alison McMillen (2001) but this statement itself is an erroneous claim by one man who managed to add it to Wikipedia! This is not true, however. I came across the speech when a Russian friend shared it on Facebook today. She assures me that her grandmother, who was a big fan of Charlie Chaplin's, was familiar with it and that is where my friend heard it. Her grandmother read that speech to her from a book about Chaplin.

- quote end -

This text above makes me very confused. But it’s the best “unproven” claim you’ll find since 2003.

For all. Search for only one source where this poem is attributed to Chaplin before 2003.

You’ll never find some one.

That’s the key.

..once again..

if this should be a birthday poem by Charlie Chaplin to his 70s from 1959, why exist none internet sources bevor 2003?

Antraeus, think about it ...

A single sentence in fact makes sometimes more sense than all other collected wisdoms.

- Olaf Hantl -

God bless you!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8048185099432744648.post-64161877227529074042014-11-26T08:56:51.180-08:002014-11-26T08:56:51.180-08:00You haven't added any new info or proof to the...You haven't added any new info or proof to the discussion Lautaro, just an opinion and a link which is already included in my post, albeit the Spanish one, and I'm guessing you're either the "one man who managed to add it to Wikipedia" or some kind of McMillen fan/disciple. Personally, I prefer the shorter version, whoever wrote it. And since Chaplin wrote the speech in the Great Dictator, I wouldn't put it past him.Antraeushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14380717502616275113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8048185099432744648.post-37473101353945500342014-11-25T12:54:17.413-08:002014-11-25T12:54:17.413-08:00hello, this is the actual book that has that quote...hello, this is the actual book that has that quote, from its real author which wasn't Chaplin. Chaplin was many things but a self-help author wasn't one

http://www.amazon.es/When-I-Loved-Myself-Enough/dp/0283073373Lautarohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07066428006948940874noreply@blogger.com
